Course Overview & Table of Contents
This course provides comprehensive continuing education in wound care assessment, treatment, and management. Upon completion, clinicians will be equipped to deliver evidence- based wound care across a wide range of clinical settings including acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and outpatient clinics.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion, the clinician will be able to:
• Describe the normal phases of wound healing and identify factors that impair healing
• Accurately assess, classify, and document wounds using standardized tools and staging systems
• Differentiate the management needs of acute versus chronic wounds
• Apply evidence-based principles for the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries
• Identify and manage venous, arterial, and diabetic foot ulcers using current guidelines
• Select and apply appropriate debridement methods based on wound characteristics
• Choose evidence-based wound dressings appropriate to wound type, exudate level, and healing goals
• Recognize wound infection and biofilm and implement appropriate antimicrobial strategies
• Provide patient and caregiver education to support wound healing and prevention
Accreditation Note
This course provides 30 continuing education units (CEUs) upon successful completion. CEU credits are approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and California Board of Vocational/Practical Nursing, accepted by reciprocity in all 50 states.
